KNOWN ISSUE: BLE Board firmware gets wiped

  • Hi folks, looks like we're seeing a recent batch of BLE boards where the firmware just poops out. Namely, you plug the board in, and the light comes on for a second, and then just shuts off. We're looking into why this happens, but in the meantime, you're able to re-install the BLE board firmware. The caveat is you'll need to use a Windows machine and run a tiny EXE file.

I've responded to one of our community members here, who was having the issue, but I'll list out the steps to re-install the firmware below as well.

Here's the Firmware updater, that you'll need to install on a Windows machine.

It'll be a tiny EXE file, and you may have to give approval, since it's not a registered application. It should look like this:

For File name, use the dropdown and select fw_petrone_link_v17b_20161021.eb for version 17 of the BLE board firmware.

IMPORTANT: This part is a little tricky. While holding the BLE board button, plug the BLE board into the computer. Make sure the light on the BLE board is blue, which means the board is in update mode.

Next, hit SCAN, and the COM port should switch to the proper COM port that the BLE board is plugged into. The COM port number will vary depending on how many USB devices you've used/have plugged in, so don't worry if it doesn't match the image.

Next, hit UPDATE, and you should see the loading bar fill up.

    Hopefully this helps!
